International
Conference On Prostate Cancer, 2006:
Keynote Speaker Announced: Dr. Clifford Kuhn, "The Laugh Doctor"
JJune 26, 2006, Charlottesville, VA: The Foundation For Cancer Research (FCRE) and Education and Us TOO International are thrilled to announce their keynote speaker, Dr. Clifford Kuhn, also known as The Laugh Doctor, for their Saturday night gala and banquet at the International Conference On Prostate Cancer 2006 (ICPC) held October 19-22 at the Regency Hyatt Hotel In Reston, Virginia.
In addition to the well-rounded medical content usually featured by these organizations, this year’s focus will be on optimism and its positive impact on overall health.
"Too
many men immediately despair when facing a cancer diagnosis, but
these days it¹s far from a death sentence," says Dr. Charles
"Snuffy" Myers, oncologist, cancer survivor, and FCRE
President. "In my clinical practice, pessimism kills, quite
literally. The current research confirms this. So we wanted this
conference to let patients know how positivism, laughter included,
can have a beneficial impact on your prognosis. If anyone can
deliver this message, Dr. Kuhn can."
Known
best for helping individuals and groups enhance performance, productivity,
and health by creating and sustaining more fun, Dr. Kuhn teaches
people how to rediscover their natural humor resources. Dr. Kuhn
has attracted national attention in radio, print, and television,
garnering coverage in numerous media sources ranging from CNN
and The Washington Post to The New Yorker and The AARP Bulletin.
"I
have learned that humor is a powerful antidote to the stress and
ultimately fear associated with illness. Healing humor is a natural
gift that we all possess, but learn early in life to suppress,"
Kuhn says. "My HA HA HA Prescription is a three step process designed
to free up and unleash the healing power of humor to those that
need it most."
Originally
created to provide patients and their families with much-needed
information, the ICPC also seeks to unite patients in their fight
against prostate cancer by providing them with an emotional support
system in what some view as a solitary struggle. By offering men
and their loved ones these support opportunities along with cutting-edge
lectures from today¹s best medical practitioners, all groups involved
wish to create a common information stream from which patients
can drink in both life-saving knowledge and hope.
Prostate
cancer is one of the most commonly-diagnosed cancers with approximately
232,090 new cases in the United States alone. While many of the
newest treatments are highly effective, there is still no cure,
and many men still remain unaware of the treatment options available
to them. It is only through excellence in education that patients
receive the information that can ultimately save their lives.
Registration for the ICPC 2006 is $100 per person until September
1 and $125 thereafter. Tickets for the Gala Dinner are $50 per
person. For conference details or to register, call 718-522-7512
or go to www.cancer-foundation.org. A $5 discount is offered to
those who register online.
